W-O-Wzers! Look at Susan's Sweater!

Can you believe this? Just look what you can do with some imagination and vision! This is Susan's g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s sweater. Constructed on the bias, in Creative Focus Kid Mohair, recycled Himalayan Sari silk and recycled Himalayan Sari Ribbon. The sleeves, collar and waist band are 100% Lambswool in an eggplant colour (not the black that you may have suspected.) Susan is a 're-emerging' knitter and off to a flying start.

A quick mention - we now have 2 dozen Debbie Bliss Summer Magazines - restocked through a comedy of errors (i was really only looking for 1 dozen, but there you go) - come in quickly to pick up - the last batch lasted only 2 weeks!

Happy Leap Year Day tomorrow!

Beautiful Class and Beautiful Caridgans!

Wow! Look at these beauties! This is 1/2 of "Chicks with Sticks", a group that meets most Tuesday mornings. Doris, Wendy and Pat have created several projects but this is their first garment! Beautiful on all, i think! For those that may be intrigued, this is an easy-peasy cardigan constructed from 5 rectangles with a little bit of patterning thrown in to alieve boredom.

Regular knitting groups are a lot of fun - we establish a project and work together as a group towards a common goal - and for some of us, the goal is just to finish the darn thing and get it put together!

We will be starting a new group on April 17 on every Friday morning (10:30 - noon) - Knit-a-Block-a-Month - by the end of 12 months (or fewer months if we're quick!), we'll have an afghan! Each block will be different, so you will learn 12 new stitches. What's your commitment? Each class costs $10, plus materials. What's my commitment? Blood, sweat and tears. Plus any knitting guidance you might need. Space is limited (i only have 7 chairs!) so call soon, and sign up quick!!!

Oh. And a cup of coffee, that's pretty tasty, i must say.

FunSpecs, Purl and why they are fun...

These are so cute!!!
Now, i'm not saying that knitters have bad eyesight... i'm just saying, that late at night, when there is poor light and we are all tired after working hard ... you can use our FunSpecs! We have 6 different styles and 3 or 4 strengths so that you can follow that charted Fair Isle more easily! Only $24.50. With a matching case! At that price, i'm taking a pair of the cutest frames to my optician and getting my wacky prescription (a different prescription in each eye) put in them.

Also cute, but not quite so much fun. While we have painters at the house, Purl is here at the shop with me today. She's pacing, whining and dying to get up to Don's restaurant! It reminds me of why i leave her at home most days!

We have sold out of the Debbie Bliss Spring/Summer magazine - Yes, it's that good! I have a further dozen on order - not sure if they can even accommodate - i'll keep you updated!

Gonna snow/rain today! Stay warm, and knit!

snoooooooowwwwwww - time to knit!

Okay - i don't get this weather. It finally warms up and we start to lose lots of the snow. That's a good thing. Then it rains. And then it snows. And snows some more. And the wind blows, and blows and blows. However, it's still warm, so i guess we'll take what we can get!

My KnitWits were in this morning, working away on their "Freedom Sweater" which has proven to be very popular. Chicks with Sticks will begin this pattern next Tuesday. It's an excellent choice for those who are just beginning to knit garments. Chunky wool, big needles and luscious colours!

Why not consider starting a group knitting group? You could meet here regularly (and you don't have to vacuum to get ready!) with your friends, or friends you have yet to meet! I will guide your group; teach when required, opine when required, help with decisions, measure works in progress or measure on the body! I also pour coffee! All this for a nominal charge! We usually start at 10:30, end around noon or whenever you want to leave. KnitWits have been meeting at On The Lamb every Thursday morning for almost 2 years! Chicks With Sticks have begun meeting most Tuesdays and seem to be having a ball.

Give it some thought - It's a great way to upgrade your skills, learn new and wonderful techniques, have fun and meet your new best friend! Plus, i make pretty good coffee.

Call me and i can make some suggestions for putting a group together.

what's new in this blustery month!?

The new stuff is arriving for spring and it's better than Christmas! By March 1st we will be all stocked up for your spring knitting.

The new Debbie Bliss Magazine for spring has arrived and it's better than the winter version. I just love 'dainty's' for the house, knit up in white, white, white cotton? No? How about a hot pink Bolero? Reminds me of hot, humid nights! And the shapes are changing in women's garments - they flow, they ease over the body. They are flattering!

We have begun to stock Debbie Bliss product: Luxury Tweed is here, Alpaca Silk DK is here and more arriving monthly (i'm ordering Prima cotton as a result of the magazine!)

If you haven't been in the shop lately, the latest rage is our "Freedom" sweater (named after the wool) - couldn't be easier - it's constructed with simple shaping. And fixed with the wonderful Brooches by BijouxBelts - it's a stunner! I'm teaching 2 classes for this cardigan and am ordering the wool weekly from my supplier to keep up.

New sock yarns have arrived - for those who love Sox (a workhorse from Berroco) - you'll love Sox Metallic! And Yummy - how could you not love a yarn called Yummy - especially as it is!

Drop in and visit - don't mind the floors - it's impossible to keep them clean - just one more reason why i'm kinda looking forward to the spring!
