I almost don't need to say anything...

Ahhhhhhhhhh - it's been awhile since i've see such luscious colours! Linares is a cotton and viscose blend, gently and subltly varigated, and handpainted from Chile. A wonderful sheen and delicious slub.

Specs: 4 mm needle, 22 st/4 inches. At
210 meters at $15.99, it's a steal. And there's only 6 pink/coral left - 'cause it complements my complexion!

Quick lesson - what is Viscose? A natural polymer made from wood pulp; in the 1920s the word rayon was adopted.

So this is a natural product.

Aren't you all just so generous!!!!!

My wonderful customers have come through again! 35 more "Wellness Caps" are heading off to Sunnybrooke Hospital! The Cancer unit is thrilled with our donation of the Wellness Caps; in fact, the caps reside in a basket which has a sign that says "Thank you to the Uxbridge Knitters." (in case you are keeping track - that 110 caps donated thus far!)

We also took Knitted Knockers over to the "30 hour Quilt Marathon" at Quilters Cupboard; volunteers hand quilted 2 full quilts over a 30 hour period, in two hour shifts! Many ladies who were involved in the marathon were interested in the Knitted Knockers (or Booby Traps!) and wer thinking of knitting their own, and a few ladies even tried them on.

Nice to know we are helping in small ways, eh?

Block of the Month Club!

It's new, it's fun and you will be so proud of yourself when you are done! Why? You'll have a beautiful handmade afghan - an heirloom!

Beginning April 17th (a Friday) at 1:30 p.m. we will have a once-per-month session - BLOCK OF THE MONTH CLUB; i'll show you the first of five patterns - you will go away and knit 6 or 7 or 8 of them (depending on your desired finished afghan size) and the next month you'll come back and i'll show you one more! At the end of 5 months you'll have enough blocks to complete your afghan - just in time for fall!

The Class is $10.00 each Friday, and lasts about 1.5 hours. As you know, we are limited by our seating so sign up early!

Just as a teaser, here is a quick peak at one of the blocks and my colour choices.
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX LADIES! Have fun with this.
Go crazy with your colours or go monotone.
Use all five patterns or just 3.
Match your living room or your bedroom.
Make as a wedding gift or a baby gift.
Don't get stuck on wools - how about cotton?
How about Bamboo?

See? Fun!

Kinnearing - huh?

Did you all see the article in the Toronto Star last week? Toronto's own Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, author of "The Yarn Harlot", was trying desperately not to be seen taking picture of Greg Kinnear (that cutie off the movies) when she encountered him at the airport, so she was taking camera shots with the camera held at her side and aimed up (how Canadian of her - don't want to be caught embarrassing the Movie Star!) Consequently she got several shots of his luggage and his crotch! And on her blog she called this "Kinnearing" - and within weeks the term was all over the internet (and Flickr and Twitter, which i kinda don't get - if you do, please mceducate me?)

Have you Kinneared lately?

Addi Clics !!!!

They're here! Finally.

We only have 2 sets of them - but they are beautiful. What are they? Why, they are Addi Clics! The newest addition to the interchangeable needle market. There are 10 sizes of Addis; 3.5mm - 10mm, with three cables, a connector and a needle sizer, all in a beautiful presentation case, designed to protect for years. Individual Addis' are $22.95; this set is a deal at $179.00! It sounds high, but you are worth it. OH, and there's an Addi brooch. Uh huh.

Shiny, slick, smooth and ... give me a minute ... i have to catch my breath.

You gotta see them - we won't be able to get more for awhile after this small shipment. Ask for them - and be prepared to be blown away.

(so shiny, sigh)

WOHOOOOO! A Sale!

Yeah - you tried to ignore this blog but you just can't, can you? I said SALE. And that makes everyone turn around and have a look.

All the "Fancies" are on sale - very close to 50% off!!!! If it's sparkly, glimmery, shimmery and shiney, it's on sale. Here's your chance! You wanted to make a Segue scarf but the $29.99 price was too steep? How's $19.99? Baffi catch your eye but not your pocketbook at $17.99; how's $9.99? Heck, Trilogy is 4.99 and Chicago is $2.99! Dune dropped from $19.50 to 10.99!

It's getting close to time to toss the store for summer (actually i will be starting on Monday when my very lovely new bookcases arrive!) and i really don't want to schlep the winter fancies up three flights to the attic! Gotta make room for all those cottons.

Pretty sure you shouldn't miss this one -
